He currently serves as a Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon at King Abdulaziz Medical City and as the Director of Healthcare Artificial Intelligence at the Ministry of National Guard Health Affairs. Dr. Alshomer is a dedicated surgeon-scientist with an MSc in Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine, and a distinguished academic track record that includes over 50 peer-reviewed publications and books chapters, 3 US registered patents, and 1 authored textbook, in the fields of microsurgery, regenerative medicine, and medical technology innovation. His work bridges surgical expertise with cutting-edge research and healthtech innovation, contributing meaningfully to both clinical practice and academic advancement.

He completed a master's degree in public health from the University of Miami 2013. He then moved to Canada where he completed his specialty training in Vascular Surgery at the University of Toronto, followed by an Advanced Vascular and Endovascular Fellowship, focusing most on advanced aortic and peripheral interventions for limb salvage. Since 2020, he has been a Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon and an Assistant Professor of Vascular Surgery at King Saud University, and the Director of the Non-invasive Vascular Laboratory at the King Saud University Medical City.
